Results are reported against four proficiency levels: Exceeding, Strong, Developing and Needs additional support.
The official guidance is that students do not need to study for NAPLAN. What it does not say is that children who have never seen the format before can spend the first few minutes of a timed test figuring out how it works rather than answering questions. That is time they do not get back.
