Our Story

Built by an Australian teacher, around the principles every classroom practitioner knows.

SubjectMate exists because the kids who fall furthest behind aren't always the ones struggling in class. They're often the ones who get home, open their books, and hit a wall at the exact moment when school support has ended for the day.

There's something every teacher knows but rarely says out loud. What happens in the classroom is only half the picture. The other half plays out at the kitchen table on a Tuesday evening when your Year 8 student hits a question they can't crack and the school day has already ended.

Most parents are deeply involved in their child's education. The challenge is that the curriculum moves fast, subjects get complex, and there are only so many hours in a day. SubjectMate was built to be there in the moments when extra support makes all the difference.

You're not falling short by not knowing the content. You're doing everything right by looking for support.

Without SubjectMate
Homework takes an hour of frustration and ends unfinished
Your child gives up and says "I just don't get it"
The question stays unanswered until the next school day
Confusion builds until assessment time
With SubjectMate
Homework gets done in 20 minutes with actual understanding
Your child asks questions instead of hiding confusion
You see real progress in your dashboard after every session
Confidence builds. Results follow.
What we kept seeing
The moments that made us build this
The late night message
A parent reaching out at 9pm asking for help with simultaneous equations because their child had been struggling for an hour. The willingness to help was always there. But it wasn't sustainable for anyone.
The blank assignment
A student handing in nothing with a quiet apology. Not because they hadn't tried, but because they'd worked at it for two hours and just needed one person to help them find the starting point.
The parent conference
Sitting across from parents who were doing everything right. Engaged, caring, involved. They just needed a way to extend that support into the evenings when the content got beyond what any busy person could be expected to know off the top of their head.

Every child deserves support that shows up every night of the week.
Not just on the nights a tutor is booked.

Guide rather than give
A tutor who hands over the answer doesn't teach anything. SubjectMate asks questions and works through problems step by step so your child can do it themselves next time.

Built for Australian classrooms
NESA. VCAA. QCAA. SCSA. Every state curriculum has its own terminology and expectations. SubjectMate is aligned to all of them from Year 3 to Year 12.

Available when you need it
Homework doesn't arrive at a convenient time. SubjectMate is there on Sunday nights before a big week and at 9pm when everyone's tired and the assignment still isn't finished.

Meets your child where they are
Every student learns differently. SubjectMate adapts to your child's year level, interests and needs rather than delivering a one size fits all explanation that misses the mark.

Results that matter
We measure success the way a good teacher does. Not by how many questions were asked but by whether your child walked away understanding something they didn't before.

SubjectMate isn't trying to replace teachers. Good teachers are irreplaceable and the relationships they build with students matter more than any technology can. What SubjectMate does is extend good teaching into the hours when school isn't in session.

My name is George. I'm an Australian high school teacher and I built SubjectMate because of what I kept seeing in my students. The ones who thrived weren't always the smartest in the room. They were the ones who had somewhere to turn when they got home and hit a difficult question. I wanted to give every student that same advantage.

If any of this resonates, the trial is free and takes 60 seconds to set up.
