Terms of Use — SubjectMate

    The short version: SubjectMate is here to help your child learn, not hand over answers. Accounts are created and managed by parents or guardians. Subscriptions include a 7 day free trial and can be cancelled any time from your account settings. The tutor guides your child to understand the work, asking the right questions and building real confidence along the way.
  

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account and using SubjectMate, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. The service

SubjectMate provides an AI powered tutoring service aligned to the Australian school curriculum for students in Years 3 to 12. The service is designed to support genuine learning and understanding alongside your child's regular schooling.

3. Accounts

Accounts must be created by a parent or guardian aged 18 or older. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure. Subscription access is limited to the number of children covered by your chosen plan.

4. Free trial and subscription

New subscriptions begin with a 7 day free trial. You must provide valid payment details to start the trial, but you will not be charged during the trial period. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically and your payment method is charged for the first billing period. You can cancel at any time during the trial from your account settings and you will not be charged.

Current plans are:

Focused Support — $39 AUD per month or $31 AUD per month billed annually
Complete Support — $59 AUD per month or $47 AUD per month billed annually
Family Support (2 children) — $89 AUD per month or $71 AUD per month billed annually
Family Support (3 children) — $109 AUD per month or $87 AUD per month billed annually
Family Support (4 children) — $129 AUD per month or $103 AUD per month billed annually

Referral credits — when you refer a friend and they subscribe, a $10 AUD credit is automatically applied to your next bill. Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred. The referred friend receives 10 days free instead of 7. Credits are applied only when the referred friend converts to a paid subscription.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled

Annual subscriptions are billed as a single upfront payment

You may cancel at any time from your account settings. No cancellation fee applies.

The Focused Support plan provides access to the subject and year level selected at signup. Switching subjects or year levels requires an upgrade to Complete Support.

5. Acceptable use

SubjectMate is a learning tool and works best when used as one. We ask that you use the service to genuinely support your child's understanding and that you keep your account details within your household. Each subscription covers the number of children specified in your chosen plan.

6. About the AI tutor

SubjectMate is designed to guide your child to the answer rather than hand it over. The tutor asks questions, breaks concepts down step by step, and adapts to your child's year level and learning style. As with all AI technology, responses are generated dynamically and your child's own thinking and their teacher's guidance always come first. SubjectMate works best as a complement to classroom teaching.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, SubjectMate's liability is limited to the amount paid in the month in which any issue arose.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

9. Third-party content

SubjectMate uses interactive science simulations from PhET Interactive Simulations, University of Colorado Boulder. These simulations are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC-BY-4.0). Simulation content remains the intellectual property of the University of Colorado Boulder.
